DNC to start deploying 41,000-person-strong volunteer organizing team to make sure Californians know the importance of Proposition 50, the “Election Rigging Response Act”
Today, less than two months before the November election, the Democratic National Committee announced a new, bilingual volunteer organizing campaign to ensure all Californians know the importance of Proposition 50, the “Election Rigging Response Act.”
Following Trump and Republicans’ passing devastating legislation that will kick millions of Americans off of health care and food assistance, they concocted a scheme to avoid accountability by rigging congressional maps. Governor Newsom and the California legislature fought back by placing Proposition 50 on the ballot, giving California voters the chance to respond in kind and even the playing field.
This week, the DNC will deploy our organizing team of 41,000 volunteers to go all-in on ensuring Californians know the stakes of this important ballot measure. Most importantly, while working with the California Democratic Party, the canvassing, literature, and on-the-ground organizing will be bilingual — featuring both English and Spanish speakers.
Specifically, the DNC organizing team will support the Proposition 50 coordinated campaign through:
- Calls and texts that began this past weekend to increase awareness and visibility among hard-to-reach Californians.
- Pushing thousands of Californians to participate in on-the-ground canvases and volunteer phone banks.
- Hosting a specific recruitment push to recruit Spanish-speaking volunteers to canvass and make calls in the upcoming weeks and months.
The DNC is all-in on the November 2025 elections, and Proposition 50 is an important component to ensuring Democrats are fighting back against Trump and Republicans attempting to rig the Congressional maps in their favor.
DNC Chair Ken Martin issued the following statement:
“In order to win campaigns, you have to meet voters where they are. That’s why the DNC is beginning a bilingual organizing push to ensure Californians know to vote ‘Yes’ on Proposition 50, the Election Rigging Response Act. California is home to the most Latino voters in the country, and too often, this core group gets ignored. With a 41,000-person-strong volunteer base, the DNC is making sure we leave no stone unturned. When you organize everywhere, you can win anywhere. It’s our job to make sure every Californian knows that this is a chance to even out the playing field after Trump and his Republican enablers tried to rig the Congressional maps to avoid accountability for cutting health care and food assistance for millions of Americans. We are all in on ensuring that Proposition 50 passes in November. We’re thrilled to be supporting Governor Newsom and the California Democrats as they lead the fight against Trump’s rigged Congressional maps.”
