Yesterday, California Democrats officially put Proposition 50, the Election Rigging Response Act, on the ballot in November for California voters to fight back against Donald Trump’s attempts to rig the Congressional maps. As Donald Trump tries to change the rules for his own political gain, Governor Newsom and California Democrats are responding in kind to level the playing field. In California and across the country, Democrats will continue fighting tooth and nail to stop Trump and Republicans’ anti-democratic attacks.

On Wednesday, DNC Chair Ken Martin, California Governor Gavin Newsom, US Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), and Texas State Representative Nicole Collier (D-TX) hosted a press call highlighting the importance of Prop 50: the Election Rigging Response Act — Democrats’ retaliation against Texans’ brazen power grab that ensures the power to choice elected officials stays with the American people, not Donald Trump. During the event, Rep. Collier was forced off the call after being threatened with a felony charge for standing in the woman’s bathroom. Democrats will continue to fight against Republicans’ attempts to weaken our democracy, no matter the consequences.

Also this week, the DNC launched a brand-new tech initiative to turbocharge Democrats’ digital and field strategy and modernize campaigns that will secure Democratic wins for the next decades. Over the weekend, the DNC co-hosted “Fight the Trump Takeover” rallies all over the nation with thousands of Americans taking to the streets in protest of Donald Trump’s deplorable scheme to rig congressional maps and cheat his way to a House majority. With over 30,000 RSVPs at more than 200 events across 34 states, fed-up Americans opposed Trump and Republicans’ blatant power grab and delivered a loud and clear message: We see your scheme and we won’t stand for it.

This week, Colorado and Kentucky Democrats hosted town halls highlighting the devastating impacts of Trump’s budget scam that rips away the crucial lifeline programs Colorado and Kentucky families depend on.
