Vacation Vance Fails To Spin Disastrous Budget Bill While Americans Struggle Under Trump’s Failing Economy

Yesterday, JD Vance traveled to Georgia in an attempt to rebrand Donald Trump’s disastrous budget bill as a “working families tax cut.” But here’s the truth: Working families are getting screwed by Trump’s unaffordable agenda, while his billionaire buddies and donors get richer from their new, permanent, massive tax cuts.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

“Fresh off his summer of vacationing, JD Vance’s first public task was to try and dupe the American people about Donald Trump’s billionaire-first budget bill. He failed miserably. No amount of Vance’s spin can cover up the truth that the bill is the largest cut to health care in history, while working families are still drowning in sky-high prices. Vance can lie all he wants, but there’s no covering up the fact that Trump’s catastrophic economic agenda is rewriting the rules to favor billionaires and elites — while working families get left behind.”

Trump’s economy is in the toilet. Despite saying he would lower costs on Day One of his presidency, prices in stores and on electricity bills continue to soar, it’s getting harder and harder to find a job, and buying a home remains out of reach for too many Americans. Trump’s unhinged trade war has also put businesses in survival mode, and manufacturing employment has fallen by 28,000 jobs since he took office.

Meanwhile, Trump’s budget bill is the biggest wealth transfer in history from working and middle-class families to the richest Americans. 17 million Americans will have their health care ripped away; more than one in four nursing homes and over 300 rural hospitals are at risk of closure; and more than 22 million families will lose food assistance.

Despite how they try to rebrand their signature achievement, the Trump-Vance budget bill is the most unpopular budget on record — and Republicans know it.
