In response to new reporting highlighting how Attorney General Pam Bondi rejected ethics advice by Department of Justice staff in order to stay close to Trump amid the Epstein scandal, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement: 

“Attorney General Pam Bondi is practically glued to convicted Commander in Chief Donald Trump’s hip, ready to lick his boots or orchestrate a government cover-up at his command. Here’s the bottom line: If Bondi is capable of throwing out ethics rules to be on Trump’s good side, who’s to say how far she’ll go to hide the truth from the American people — all to appease her puppetmaster in the Oval Office and his circle of rich and powerful elites.”  

Let’s not forget that only five months ago, Pam Bondi claimed the Epstein files were sitting on her desk. Yet, in the time since, Bondi has done nothing but flip-flop on her original comment and deny the existence of a client list. Then there’s Trump — a close friend of convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein — who called for the release of the Epstein files, then failed to do so. But then the bombshell hit: the DOJ found that Trump’s name was listed in the Epstein files. Now, caught up in his lie, Trump claims the files are fake. 

While Trump and his administration try to cover up the heinous crimes included in those files, they’re simultaneously doing favors for Epstein’s chief accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell. Trump also refused to rule out a pardon for Maxwell — and continues to claim he has the “power” to grant her freedom. Now — with her potential pardon on the line — Maxwell is conveniently claiming that Trump never did anything wrong.     

Trump’s even got the rest of his administration in on it. Vance is convening government officials in meetings to “deal” with the Epstein scandal — but Vance can’t hide the fact that he promised to release the Epstein Files, too.  

Trump and his administration are doing everything in their power to deceive the American people. Despite countless attempts to worm their way out of this mess, no amount of spin can bury this massive scandal. The American people deserve to know the truth, and anything less than full transparency will not be tolerated.
