Americans are seeing right through Donald Trump’s billionaire-first budget, which is poised to enrich the ultra-wealthy while harming middle- and low-income families. Trump’s budget is the most unpopular budget on record. In response, Republicans are now rebranding their disastrous budget bill as a “working families tax cut” — in other words, they are lying to cover up their tracks as they throw Americans under the bus.

“Republicans across the country are struggling so hard to sell Donald Trump’s billionaire-first budget that they’ve been forced to lie to the American people. From ripping health care away from 17 million Americans to eliminating millions of manufacturing jobs, working families will bear the brunt of this bill. Combined with the impact of Trump’s trade war, Trump’s reckless economic agenda is set to cost the median household around $1,300 per year. While Republicans desperately try to spin Trump’s billionaire-first budget, the American people know the facts.”

As Trump and Republicans lie to cover up the damage that they are doing to working families, here’s what Americans face: 

Trump’s economic uncertainty has stalled the American dream — leaving people hesitant to buy homes or switch jobs amid a lack of opportunity. Americans feel stuck, and the job market isn’t helping, especially as more and more employees aren’t satisfied with their wages under Trump.  

Trump is worsening inflation, and electricity bills are skyrocketing, forcing Americans to tighten their wallets. A majority of consumers already plan to cut back on spending as they expect prices to rise on everyday items and unemployment to worsen.
