Ahead of JD Vance’s visit to Pennsylvania to tout the Trump administration’s disastrous billionaire-first budget, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement: 

“JD Vance is heading to Pennsylvania to remind working families who’s responsible for gutting their jobs, health care, and food assistance: Donald Trump. While Vance attempts to do damage control for Trump’s unpopular billionaire-first budget, Americans are already drowning in sky-high prices driven by Trump’s reckless trade war. Pennsylvania businesses have already lost a total of $1.6 billion in revenue, thanks to Trump. The bottom line: Trump will always prioritize the ultra-wealthy over the American people — and now he’s sending Vance to the Keystone State just to rub it in.”

Donald Trump’s billionaire-first budget is wildly unpopular with the American people — and yet, Vance is traveling to Pennsylvania to remind working families who’s responsible for this disastrous bill. 

• An overwhelming majority of Americans, including one in three Republicans, disapprove of Trump’s billionaire-first budget
• 61% of Americans oppose the GOP’s budget bill, with only 16% saying the proposal will help their family
• 52% of Americans believe the budget proposal will make the economy worse, including one in four Republicans and 56% of independents
• 64% of Americans hold an unfavorable opinion of the GOP’s tax and budget bill, including 34% of Republicans 
• When people hear about the bill’s drastic health care cuts, support shrinks and opposition grows — including among Trump’s own supporters
• After being told that the bill would decrease funding for local hospitals, favorability of the bill falls to 21% while unfavorability rises to 79%

Trump’s budget will devastate working Pennsylvanians  — tanking manufacturing and ripping away their food assistance and health care. 

• Nearly 484,000 Pennsylvanians will lose health insurance 
• 143,000 Pennsylvanians are at risk of losing food assistance
• Nearly 58,000 Pennsylvanians could lose their job 
• The median household in Pennsylvania will lose over $300 from Trump’s billionaire-first budget alone. Combined with Trump’s reckless tariff agenda, the median household will lose over $1,600 annually
• Five rural hospitals in Pennsylvania are at risk of closing
• Pennsylvanians’ electricity bills will rise by 8.1%
• Trump’s reckless tariffs have already cost Pennsylvania businesses $1.6 billion in revenue

REMINDER: Trump and the GOP’s budget is a direct attack on working families. His budget: 

• Rips away health care from 17 million Americans through over $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act — including the largest cut to Medicaid in American history 
• Puts over 300 rural hospitals at risk of shutting down, ripping away critical, lifesaving care from hundreds of rural communities across the country  
• Forces at least 1 in 4 nursing homes to close their doors 
• Puts roughly 5 million Americans — about 1 in 8 SNAP participants — at risk of losing food assistance 
• Cost farmers nearly $23 billion in revenue
• Endangers our communities by making it easier to buy dangerous firearms and silencers 
• Adds $3.4 trillion to the national debt, while revenues fall by $4.47 trillion 
• Eliminates 1.2 million jobs by 2029 — predominantly in health care and food-related sectors — through cuts to SNAP and Medicaid
