With Grijalva’s Victory, Democrats Are Now Able To Force a Vote on Releasing the Epstein Files
September 24, 2025

As Mike Johnson struggles with one of the thinnest House majorities in American history, his job just got even harder. Democrats now have enough votes to force a floor vote to release the Epstein files following Adelita Grijalva’s win last night in Arizona. Grijalva committed to signing the discharge petition on her first day in Congress.
For weeks, Democrats have been leading the charge to release the Epstein files, including Rep. Robert Garcia — the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee — forcing the release of Trump’s birthday note to Epstein.
Now, Republicans will be forced to vote on their release, choosing between justice for the Epstein victims or protecting Donald Trump — who we know is mentioned in the files.
In response to Rep.-elect Grijalva’s victory, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
“With Rep.-elect Grijalva’s victory, Democrats in Congress now have the votes to deliver real transparency and release the Epstein files. We know Donald Trump was named in the Epstein files – it’s long past time for Republicans to stop covering this up. Americans have demanded and deserve transparency, especially the victims of Jeffrey Epstein.”
